Background
Since 1986, I have been engaged in teacher training for the early childhood education field in Hong Kong. Since the establishment of The Education University of Hong Kong (previously named The Hong Kong Institute of Education), I was given the opportunities to conduct numerous academic exchange with education experts and scholars from China and other countries, considering the needs of promoting quality of early childhood education and teacher training in China, especially in the remote and poor areas. We have been committed to improving and providing assistance to early childhood education in western China, designing training courses for kindergarten teachers coming from these regions, we also participated in the national early childhood education teacher training projects at Lanzhou.
In recent years, many of my students trained earlier have made achievements in the early childhood industry. I hope they can serve the community with their professional knowledge and experience, and to offer support to the development of early childhood education at any regions in need. For those students who are currently studying early childhood education, if they can join in these community support service then they can also learn from their senior in the field and eventually benefit from both theoretical and practical aspects of these professional development activities.
On 20th February 2014, Hong Kong Child-rity Association was established with the support of a group of enthusiastic early childhood educators. We are officially registered as a non-profit and charitable organization in Hong Kong. It is my hope to create a platform for early childhood educators from around the world to exchange and share their professional experiences, and to promote quality early childhood education. In addition, I wish the HKCRA mission can be well supported by the education industry and the wider community.
