Walk Together – HKCRA Care and Education Programme 2023″

In 2023, HKCRA reoperated the caring program of Lo Wu Correctional Institution, and reinforce its regular services for the following year. I would like to thank the Hong Kong Child-Rity Association and a group of enthusiastic volunteers for their great contribution!

In addition, our President, Professor Lam Mei Yung(Hazel), was invited on 27 February to attend the Correctional Institution’s cheque presentation ceremony. Through this event, the institution not only financially subsidized fifteen thousand Hong Kong dollars to HKCRA, but also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to our association through the event.

(See Hong Kong Correctional Institution’s Facebook for details).

Action of Care is not only a one-way service, but also a platform for participating volunteers to reflect on their own bright side as well as inadequacy through different life paths. Therefore, our President, Professor Lam Mei Yung(Hazel), pays great emphasis to the training and support of participating volunteers. In addition to HKCRA’s regular self-organized training, she also encourages volunteers to participate in activities organized by different organizations from time to time.

On May 20, during the training seminar on how to establish good relations and promote communication with staff in real time, HKCRA had the opportunity to communicate with more than 10 different service organizations from the Catholic Diocese. President Mrs. Lam shared with the participants her professional and many years of experience in service with the association, while HKCRA focused on parent-child education and incarcerated mothers, the common practice in the market highlights the intentions of HKCRA’s positioning, and has been praised by all parties. The speaker, Ms. Lau Wan Chau(Teresa), brought out “love”, 7 seconds and 3 minutes ~ explanation ability, motivational dialogue, etc. through games, in addition to allowing everyone to get some skills, it is really rewarding and inspiring.

On May 30, the Correctional Services Department Launching of research book Sharing Session “GRIPPING INSIGHTS: Recent psychological research on Hong Kong corrections” was a different book launch. The participants had interesting dialogues, concisely explained the chapters in the book and the interest in reading. A collection of correctional psychology research albums, endless data and charts, with 3 individuals sharing through their recorded videos about their changes in the correctional institution, those scientific research materials have let us look into their souls, it is really a book worth reading. The Hong Kong Correctional Services Department has also adjusted its copyright to let the public read this book online, just scan the QR Code below or click on the link to enter the free reading page. The Association would also like to express its gratitude to Director Wong Kwok -hing of the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department, as well as the President of Professor Lam Mei Yung(Hazel) and Executive Committee Member President Wong Su Yuk for taking a commemorative photo.
